Hello, my fellow deviants!
Some friends and I are recently working on a steampunk/fantasy/pseudo historic pen-and-paper role play game, based on the d20 open game system. It's called Magia Res Civitatis, and is set in the Europe of 1896, where magic as well as steam technology shape the daily life. At this time, Great Britain has become a become an empire ruled by a military regime and taken over all of western Europe. Their greatest enemy is a new formed Roman Empire, ruled by godlike magicians, while Britain forces its magicians to be state official (for the reason of controlling) They, Prussia, Sweden, Russia and the Autonomous City of Prague have mediated a truce. For now...
As a player, you may choose to be a "slave" of the British Empire, or a Roman warrior, or a free adventurer in a tensing age. Why am I telling you this? Because: We need illustrations! We neither have the talent nor the time to draw the pictures for an - as of now - uncommercial rulebook. Can't speak for my fellow comardes, by I like illustrations. Of course, I don't want to have all of the pics right now. For now, I'd be satisfied with the 11 basic classes of the game:
Jack of all Trades (a street urgin or a simple fabric worker who knows a bit of everything)
Noble (An Aristocrat, an officer or an actor, who knows how to talk out situations and has a lot of contacts in his backhand)
Soldier (A fighter with battle experience)
Field Expert (A practical person in the fields of crafting, medicine and science)
Explorer (You need a guide through the jungle or through enemy space? Then the explorer is your man!)
Slugger (A muscular, hard-boiled thug, who talks with his fists)
Scoundrel (A gentleman thief)
State Magician (A sorcerer in the service of a government, who uses both magic and contacts)
Free Magician (A independend wizard with great magical skill)
Priest (A savant and a user of divine magic)
Shaman (A member of a primitive triibe who uses the agic of nature)
Of course, I'll give the potential artist more details, which leads me to the question: Is anybody out there, who wants to give the illustration of this character types a try? Sure, you don't need to this for free. I'm running currently low on money, so I can't give too much (however, this is still quite a bit), but thats only a matter of negotiation.
I hope, there will be somebody to help me making my dream of an own role play setting come true.
regards

PS: Yeah, I know, my English is bad.
